The art-deco luxury hotel is noted for its twin turrets and balconied rooms and suites that overlook the Mediterranean Sea and the hotel's own private sandy beach along the French Riviera. The Carlton became notorious during its centennial year as the site of three separate jewelry heists that yielded the thieves more than $140 million in diamonds and other gems.
