It has the merit of great sim-plicity in construction and management, andeconomy in the practical cost of above cut represents an apparatus suita-ble for depots, churches and residences. Itconsists of the stove A for generating thegas, the valve B. for preventing its returninto the furnace, and the gas holder C play-ing in the water tank D. The stove A isabout 26 inches in diameter and 3 feet contains a round retort, into which the alloy, is then dropped into its place, makingan air-tight joint, the water allowed to dropslowly and the process of generating gas be-gins at once.
