Sir Thomas Parry, also Parrie or ap Harry (1515–60), worked for Thomas Cromwell in the 1530s, when Holbein probably drew this portrait study. He later became a household official of Princess Elizabeth, who made him a Privy Councillor on her accession in 1558. Reference K. T.
