'Isaac Blessing Jacob', c1638, (1914). Biblical scene: Jacob, pretending to be his brother Esau, tricked their blind father into bestowing Esau's rightful blessing on him. Their mother Rebecca, who looks on from behind the bed, had the idea of imitating Esau's hirsute arms with animal-skin gloves. Painting in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
