View NW at sunset of St Mary the Virgin's Church, Rhossili, Gower, Wales, UK. Probably built during the C14th by Anglo-Norman settlers in Gower, it replaced the C12th Old Church in the Warren which was overwhelmed by sand. Simple style with chancel, nave, S porch & W tower with a transverse saddleback roof. The churchyard contains the graves of several Rhossili men who lost their lives at sea & there is a space in the SW corner for the burial of unknown sailors recovered from shipwrecks. The memorial with the standing girl in the foreground is to the memory of Thomas Bevan Taylor, husband of Margaret Taylor, who died aged 70 in 1921.
