Just inside the engine room and closeto the wall are Goubert steam separators to which the enginebranch pipes are connected. In the boiler room are Goubert teedwater heaters; Penberthy injectors are provided in addition to thefeed pumps. Directly connected on the engine shaft between thehigh and low pressure cylinders is a 400-kw., 3-phase, rotary field,25 cycle Westinghouse generator. The current is generated Tt. PLATE GIRDER BRIDGE. 380 volts and is stepped up to volts at which pressure it istransmitted to one substation by No. 4 copper wires. Step-downtransformers at the substation reduce the voltage to 380 and this i;carried to two 200-kw. Westinghouse rotary converters whiclideliver direct current to the line at 600 volts.
