Church of Sant Miguel in Vielha in the Catalan Pyrenees region of Valle de Aran province of Lérida,Catalonia,Spain

The church of Sant Miquel de Vielha, which corresponds to the old chapel of the castle, is the result of various reforms and extensions carried out in the 15th and 18th centuries on the original late Romanesque building, from the 12th-13th centuries, which is only preserved in the sections closest to the front. The portalada was added towards the end of the 13th century. All this makes it difficult to classify the church within a specific architectural style. Capital of the Arán Valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees, the enigmatic town of Vielha e Mijaran, in the province of Lérida, in the Catalan Pyrenees, opens up before our senses. This town in the High Pyrenees is popularly known as Viella. Surrounded by the Arán Valley or Vall d'Arán, it allows itself to be embraced by it, like a hidden treasure.
