. Canadian foundryman (1921). ings will be of interest. This is asubject which always attracts attentionfor the reason that the lining is usuallyout of order in every furnace where brassis melted, unless kept constantly underrepair. The method adopted at thisplant and which bids fair to becomepopular is to brick the furnace a fewinches bigger than is required and thenre-line it with an artificial plumbago, known as carborundum. A plug patternof the proper size is made just the sameas would be required for molding. Thisis placed in the furnace and centered, andthe lining material .which is mixed tothe constituency of core sand, is rammedaround the plug pattern, similar to ram-ming up a core, and the plug is drawnjust like drawing the pattern out of amold. This leaves a nice smooth lining, which will last for many months andwhich can be repaired at will be re-inserting the plub and ramming in morematerial. In a future article we willdescribe this lining material morethoroughly. FLOOW LCVLL-*OIL PIPE -^AIR BLAST—>. SECTIONAL
