A colorful tapestry in St. Matthias in Budapest, Hungary.

The colorful character of the church is the manifestation of the cultural interchange on the borderline between East and West. The interior of the church was decorated even in medieval times by painting on the walls and not only representational frescors, but also tapestry like decorative designs as opposed to the western practice. The unique interior was created at the end of the 19th centry by Bertalan Szekely and Frigyes Schulek.
