This somewhat curious currency, which, as a matter of tact, was a metallic sub-stitute for the cowries, and for that reason is sometimes called Shell-Money, hasreceived the quaint appellatives of Ghosts heads % 3% Kwei ton and Antsnoses money ^ ^ ^ Y-pi isien. It was issued, according to tradition, by the careof Siin-siok Ngao, Prime Minister of Tchwang, king of Tsu (S. Honau, Hupeh, &c.)who ruled in 612-589 Ilpfn-fnres.—, fcheiir, III. f 15.— VI, ff.
