A helmet for officers of the Horse Guard Regiment M 1854 until 1867, circa 1855 High, elegant leather skull, complete with all fittings in fire-gilt version. High, embossed comb, lateral protective bars. A large plaque with crowned monogram "JR" for King John (reigned 1854 - 1873) on the front. Special version of flat, gilt chinscales, mounting with Medusa's head with Saxon cockade above it on the left side. Black leather liner with loops and golden border. Signs of age and usage.
