The Tachina Flies This is one of the most beneficial fam- ilies of insects, because of the parasitic habits of the larvae upon destructive caterpillars, grasshoppers, bugs, beetles, saw flies, etc. The adults are little larger than house flies, being striped and grayish in color with hairy bodies.
