[Continued from page ing along camp equipment, so she can stop in the prettiest spots along the way. Mrs. Darbee says flowers were in excellent shipping condition for the holi- day, thanks to the cool, damp weather. The management of the California Floral Co. is well satisfied with its first Memorial day business. This concern did considerable shipping, in addition to a number of church decorations and an active counter trade. Frank Claverie reports business good on Polk street. He has his store nicely fitted up and has added three employees to his force. Norman Marcus, decorator for Albert O. Stein, has enlisted in a hospital unit and expects to leave soon for France. He has two brothers and several friends in the same corps. On account of his father's illness, PatricJI: Orr, of the Stein force, has given lap his plans for a month's trip east and has gone to Oroville, Cal., instead, to spend the '^ime with his father. The Francis Floral Co. enjoyed a won- derful Memorial day business, accord- ing to the proprietor, Francis Schlotz- hauer. His force worked overtime on out-of-town shipments. Frank H. Forrest has closed a deal whereby he will do all the decorating for the Tait-Zinkand cafe, which is one of the largest in the city. He makes his headquarters with the Art Floral Co. and has been helping out there for several days during the holiday rush. P. V. Matraia, head of the company, says shipping business was especially good. At his stand in the St. Francis hotel Julius Eppstein has had a special dis- play of orchids from Carbone's place in Berkeley. The showing included ten or more varieties. Mr. Eppstein says business is holding up well. Victor Podesta, of Podesta & Bal- docchi, gave his attention personally to a large floral piece for the Guthrie demonstration. Mr. Podesta says that the Memorial day business has ceased to amount to much with florists
