The deed of 1799 states that a church and churchyardwere to be erected thereupon, but this intention was notcarried out. The Chester Family.—About this time (in 1800) the landsof the Bellinghams in Kilsaran and the greater part of theirlands in Williamstown passed by purchase to the Chesterfamily. The Chesters of County L,outh are derived from ayounger branch of the Chesters of Chickerley Hall, settled in Drogheda in the sixteenth century, and havingprospered, purchased Carstown (said to have been the resi-dence of the ill-fated and ill-treated Archbishop, Oliver.
