Mr. Leute was born in Baden, Germany,October 28, 1832, and was the son of Thad-deus and Frances (Matheus) Leute, of Ba-den, Germany. His father was a shoemakerby trade, and passed his career in his nativeland. Our subject until fourteen years ofage attended school, and was afterward en-gaged at farm work until twenty-two yearsof aee, when he came to America and located IT.
