The oldest of the Jewish Community s six synagogues In the years of Berlin s division it was the only synagogue used in the eastern part of the city The Neo Romanesque brick building was erected in the courtyard of the property between 1902 and 1904 The building facing the street houses the Jewish education centre of the Lauder Foundation This conservative synagogue was desecrated but not destroyed in the 1938 pogrom night lt was restored in 1953
