The oaks as agroup have long borne the name Quer-cus, an old Celtic word signifying beau-tiful tree. The oak genus bears thesatne designation today. The variousspecies of the genus receive also specific,distinguishing natnes. Thus, the WhiteOak is Quercus alba, the Red Oak, Quer-cus rubra, etc. Some oak
