The Firehole River is a 21 mile long river located in northwestern Wyoming. It joins the Gibbon River at Madison Junction in Yellowstone National Park as one of the two main tributaries of the Madison River. Run-off from the geothermal formations inside Yellowstone Park can increase the temperature of the Firehole River as much as 18F, as well as deposit minerals such as aresenic in the stream itself. In spite of this, trout thrive in the river and it is a well-known fly fishing only destination.
