Wind turbines at Lichtenau-Asseln windpark, North Rhine Westphalia Germany, Europe's largest inland windfarm


40% of the entire world's wind power is produced in Germany. At the Lichtenau-Asseln windpark the 62 turbines produce 36 megawatts of electricity. The clean energy produced cuts 50,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. Planning for the 380 hectar site began in 1995 and was completed in May 1998 at a total investment of 34 million Euro's.
