School Children engaged in activities at the Welcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology Stand, during the dedicated School's Day, at New Scientist Live 2022
The Wellcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology is a cutting edge research facility in Glasgow that is committed to investigating the biological mechanisms of parasites and how they cause disease. Please come along to our featured stall, Neglected Tropical Diseases and Where to Find Them, to learn more! These diseases disproportionately affect the global south, and as climate change worsens could very possibly begin to have a greater impact in northern regions. It is now more important than ever to support research into how these parasites infect their vectors and hosts and how we can treat these diseases, such as African Sleeping Sickness and Leishmaniasis. If you are now asking yourself what is the difference between a vector and a host, please come to to our stall! We will have a diverse offering of activities for all ages about our parasites, their complex, and fascinating lifecycles and how we diagnose these diseases in the field.
