Long Island Railroad workers replace track damaged by a derailment of an empty train

Long Island Railroad workers, using Hasco Track Replacement System machinery on Thursday, March 21, 2013, replace track damaged by a derailment of an empty train earlier in the week. Sixteen hundred concrete ties have been replaced by the machine over the three-quarters of a mile of damaged track. Over the weekend crews will replace the 3700 feet of third rail with service hopefully being restored by the Monday morning rush hour. (© Richard B. Levine)
