A couple in front of the Amphitrite fountain in the Place Stanislas, Nancy, France

, Nancy, Departement Meurthe-et-Moselle, France - A couple in front of the Amphitrite fountain and the wrought-iron railings in the Place Stanislas, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, which owes its name to the Polish king Stanislaw Leszczynski. After the War of the Polish Succession he was forced to emigrate. After his renunciation of Poland, he was compensated in 1737 with the Duchy of Upper Lorraine and Bar, where he spent the rest of his life. Cultural life in the region of Lorraine flourished during his reign. The square was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1983 along with Place de la Carriere and Place d'Alliance, two other components of the same architectural ensemble.
