"Erin", by J. Bell, executed in Terra Cotta by Blashfield, 1857. 'This finely characteristic figure was designed and modelled to a commission of Mr. Blashfield by Mr. Bell, the sculptor. It was intended lor the Irish Exhibition in 1852, but the work being finished too late for its reception in Dublin, Mr. Blashfield had a copy made in terracotta, and which was finished by Mr. J. Bell and exhibited at the Royal Academy. This original in terra-cotta is now in Mr. Blashfield's possession, at his gallery, Praed-street, Paddington'. From "Illustrated London News", 1857.
