The Wilson coin. Frederick Wilson, a freebooter and hunter became one of the richest men in northern India in the mid 19th century. For a while he printed his own money. Today these coins are extremely rare. Property of Ganesh Saili, a writer and historian from Landour. Landour, a former military cantonment area, is a quiet suburb of Uttaranchal's most spectacular hill station, Mussoorie. Mussoorie was established by the British in 1823. It served as an exclusive retreat for the colonisers until independence and is now a popular tourist destination for Indians. The town lies on a ridge overlooking the Doon Valley, 2000 meters above sea level.
