War Memorial, Whitwell, Hertfordshire. It remembers the 33 men of the parish who gave their lives in two World Wars. Among those remembered is The Hon Fergus Bowes-Lyon. The son of the 14th Earl of Strathmore, husband of Lady Christian Bowes-Lyon, and an elder brother of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, he was killed in action serving with the Black Watch in 1915 at the age of 26.
