Carved from a mountainside of solid granite the gigantic busts of four great American presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln overlook the surrounding countryside. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum's American tribute is one of staggering dimensions. The presidents' heads measure 60 feet high, equal in proportion to men standing 465 feet tall (141 metres) if fully carved.
