Sheis a lady of rare intelligence, having received hereducation at Vassar College. The daughter marriedDr. Barnett. Both husband and wife are dead,leaving two bright sons in good financial cir-cumstances. Levi J. Hampton, like his brother William,was a remarkable man among the old pioneers atthe Mouth. He was a man like Miles Standish, of won-derful force of character and determined will. Helived for a while in Brown County, Ohio, where hemarried Elizabeth Henderson, a lady of intelligenceand great force of character, and, like her other sixsisters, who all married men that became prominentin the higher active business pursuits of life, shewas a lady who filled the relations of wife, mother,friend, and neighbor with a luster of undimmedbrilliancy. Mr. Hampton, soon after marriage, came backto the Mouth of the Sandy, which was about 1845or 46, and ever after made the place his home,being some time engaged in timbering, timber-dealing, general trading, and hotel-keeping. Hewas a man of ardent temperament, and when hemade up his mind to do any thing, he did it withhis might. While he was a
