Car production line at the Volkswagen Transparent Factory, Dresden, Germany. This factory, opened in 2001, was built to make the luxury Phaeton car model. The production line combines automation and manual craftmanship to ensure high standards of construction. Customers and tourists can tour the factory and watch the construction of the cars in clean, quiet areas with wooden floors. At this stage the workers are using tools (some in a rack at lower right) to attach components to the main body of car. The car is on a conveyor belt. Doors, engines, windows and wheels are added later.
