Recruits with Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, receive a demonstration on a technique during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program class at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, May 21. One of the purposes of MCMAP is to teach recruits how to defeat the enemy using hand to hand combat. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate July 20.
