The shale gas site in Westby-by Plumpton is the subject of ongoing demonstrations and picketing of supply and delivery vehicles. With the site expecting deliveries later this week of the Carousel Drilling Rig the numbers of protestors are expected to increase substantially. The demands on the local police have been so great that extra units have drafted in from Wales, Merseyside and Cumbria to cope with the delaying tactics adopted by the local people opposing the exploration.
