As Napoleon III mulled the provisions of surrender, he was met by Bismarck and the two talked outside a weaver's cottage.

Otto Furst von Bismarck (1815-1898) was a German statesman and creator of the German Empire. He was called the "Iron Chancellor." Napoleon III (1808-1873) was Emperor of France. In the Franco Prussian War, Prussia won every battle, and Napoleon's empire vanished. As Napoleon mulled the provisions of surrender, he was met by Bismarck and the two turned aside into a little weaver's cottage and talked (pictured here in this 1912 illustration, with Napoleon on the left).
