PACIFIC OCEAN (March 29, 2017) Aviation Boatswain’s Mates secure a CH-53E Super Stallion, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161 (reinforced), to the flight deck aboard amphibious assault ship USS America. America is currently underway with more than 1,000 Sailors and 1,600 embarked Marines conducting Amphibious Squadron / Marine Expeditionary Unit Integration operations in preparation for the ship’s maiden deployment later this year.
