Above shot of volcano 2 Fagradalsfjall: Iceland THIS PHOTOGRAPHER was left fearing for his life and struggling to breath when he ventured to Iceland's Fagradalsfjall volcano - that has been erupting since March. Incredible images showed smouldering hot lava bursting through the earth and trickling down the landscape as daring adventurers peered into the fiery abyss of the eruption. Overhead shots revealed the charred remains of the blackened countryside and the ravishing inferno at the centre. The stunning images of Iceland's Fagradalsfjall volcano were taken by professional photographer Norbert Von Niman from Sweden, who scrambled the rocky terrain to capture the flowing lakes of lava. Norris used Nikon Z7 and Z7II cameras to capture the snaps. Revellers from Iceland all began to gather at the site of the eruption in celebration. Isolated since the outbreak of COVID-19, the residents were thrilled with the festival-like atmosphere that ensued. ?We have been waiting for an eruption for the last six years. I moved to Iceland just after our last volcano stopped erupting,? Norbert said. ?It?s been keeping me here. Every time I leave Iceland for a holiday or to visit family, I'm afraid I?ll miss the next big eruption. ?Luckily, I was there at the right time and it was definitely worth the wait. ?This island is born from fire and was then slowly formed and torn down by the ice. It?s great that we can witness the full circle of it now. ?Most volcanoes are only accessible from the air or seen from really far away but when we first saw it from the plane that first day, thirty foot from the active crater was a local man walking his dog. ?We thought that if he makes it back alive, together with the dog, we'll definitely go on foot the next day. ?It became a massive fire festival. After a year of Covid-19 with bars closed and festivals cancelled, it was amazing that Iceland managed to organise a very crowd-friendly eruption for us. ?It is truly a volcano for the people. F
