View SE of Maeneira ruined farmstead NW of Hafod y Garreg in the eastern Carneddau, Snowdonia, North Wales, UK, with Moel Eilio centre rear. A small rectangular single-storey stone cottage of c. 1800 with enclosures & later outhouses. About 18m long divided into 3 units with an inglenook fireplace in the central one. The entrance is in the E-facing wall & there is an 'outside corridor wall walk' along the E side. The back wall & dairy are cut into the hillside. Maeneira is one of several permanent dwellings which were established in this upland area, previously occupied seasonally as summer pastures (hafodau), & then subsequently abandoned. Another example at Hafod Fach is visible rear L.
