Angkor Wat, Cambodia, 2 Nov 2022. Foreign tourists gather to watch the sunrise at the famed Angkor Wat in Cambodia, 2 Nov 2022. Tourism is gradually making a comback, with around 1,000 foreign visitors arriving daily, but this is still just a fraction of the approximately million who swarmed over the site in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic, but many of the temples remain unusually empty. For those tourists who do come they are able to have a unique and uncrowded experience, but the local economy that is so dependent on tourism continues to suffer.
