The Hallgrímskirkja ("church of Hallgrímur") Lutheran (Church of Iceland) parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland, designed by state architect Guðjón Samúelsson. Iceland's largest church. The statue of explorer Leif Ericson in front of the church was a gift from the United States in honour of the 1930 Alþingi Millennial Festival, commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Iceland's parliament at Þingvellir in 930 AD
