In some parts of New Englandwhere they were formerly common, a flock of turkeys is now seldom seen. 844. Breeds of turkeys — There are comparatively few breeds of tur- keys. The Bronze is the largest,hardiest, and most popular, andusually the most profitable. Adultcocks may weigh about 36 pounds ;hens, 20 pounds. The hens are poorlayers. The Narragansett ranks nextto the Bronze in size and in popu-larity. The weight of the adult cockis about 30 pounds, that of the hen18 pounds. Slate, Buff, and Blackturkeys are not generally are from 2 to 3 pounds lighterthan the Narragansett. The WhiteHolland is the smallest breed, the cock weighing about 26 pounds, the hen16 pounds. The cross between the Wild turkey and the Bronze producesa very desirable fowl. They easily be-come wild if mismanaged. If properlyhandled
