Miller, of Carlisle, Penn-sylvania, and subsequently, in 1872, entered theemploy of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Rail-way Company as assistant to its Chicago was transferred to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in1878, continuing in the Legal Department for atime, and was later assigned a position in theGeneral Managers office. He is still in the serviceof the same corporation and has occupied hispresent position, that of Tax Commissioner, fornearly fourteen years, having been appointed March20, 1886.
