The Bernina Line ends just over the border in Tirano, where the tour begins. The Bernina Express Bus takes you along the scenic route through picturesque villages and along the bank of Lake Como to Lugano. The journey through the Veltlin region begins in Tirano. This renowned Italian valley, which spreads up in a wide curve into the mountains of the Swiss canton of Graubünden, is famous for its fine wines. Gravedona, Menaggio, Dongo - even the names of the small towns along the route create an enchanting harmony of nature and culture. Your view is also drawn along the way to the pretty coves and quaint fishing villages that dot the banks of Lake Como. We pass along the narrow waterside roads of Lake Lugano on our way to the Swiss border and our destination in the town of Lugano, which gives the lake its name. Lying at the feet of Monte Bré and Monte San Salvatore, Lugano is not only the cultural hub of the region of Tessin; it is also a favourite tourist destination in its own right.
