But inPanama the climate enforces such a prohibition tosome extent. Luxury there would be positivediscomfort. Costly rugs and hangings, richly up-holstered furniture are out of place. Air space isthe greatest luxury, and a room cluttered with objectsof priceless art would be scarcely habitable. Within their limitations, however, the hostessesof the Zone have made their homes thoroughlycharming. The visitor was, I think, most im-pressed by
