MAKUTANO, NORTH OF ELWAK, EASTERN KENYA, 2nd SEPTEMBER 2009: Makutano, a new pastoralist dropout settlement, less than 6 weeks old, contains 57 households with more people arriving daily. As a new community the limited government assistance has not reached them yet. As a result, women have to travel several kms to collect water from the nearest water point.
