This is the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai 9711 feet high located near Lake Natron in the Rift valley of Tanzania in East Africa as it was in August 1976 during a small expedition of members of the Mountain Club of Kenya. Not long after Lengai known to the Maasai as the Mountain of God erupted changing the caldera and crater rim. Lengai has had several eruptions since that time 2002,2008 and has featured in several of David Attenborough's television documentaries
