Magnetic therapy for depression. MRI brain scans of a patient taken before undergoing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to treat severe depression. TMS uses localised pulses of magnetic energy to stimulate increased activity in the left frontal lobe, the area of the brain associated with mood disorders. The location of the pulse is controlled on screen using a camera connected to a computer. Photographed at the Henri Mondor hospital, Creteil, Paris, France.
