In 1904 he was nominatedfor Congress in the First District, but is the author of several historical and economicstudies, and has written much upon the breedingof racehorses, being an authority. He is a mem-ber of a number of clubs and learned societies,and IS Honorary Historian of the Sacramento So-ciety of California Pioneers.
