The world class Museum of Science and Industry reflecting into its neighboring lagoon on the south side of the structure. It building was built as the Palace of Fine Arts for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. The museum holds among its exhibits a working coal mine, captured German submarine from World War II, antique aircraft and railroad equipment and a massive model railroad. It is located near the University of Chicago and Lake Michigan in the Hyde Park neighborhood of the city.
