BY MISS ETHEL T R E W After the fiesta of February 2nd, the image was takeninto the room near the church, and disrobed by the once had beautiful ropes of pearls, but they were appro-priated b} the Spanish Government at the time of thedissolution of monasteries, together with a great manyother jewels and gold ornaments belonging to her and toto the service of the Mass. The image still has a greatmany valuable jewels, including some emeralds of greatsize. They occur in a beautifulsto macher of heavy gold-work covering the bodice of her dress. Between theemeralds the stomacher is studded with diamonds. Thecrowns of Virgin and Child are only silver-gilt, set withamethysts and topazes, together with a great many badly-matched pearls
