Everything eatable is requisitioned byindividual soldiers. Dead people were lying in heaps, shot after trial by martial law. Little pigs were run-ning about looking for their mothers, dogs were leftchained up with nothing to eat or drink, and the houseswere burning above them. My heart grieves forthe inhabitants. It may be that they make use oftreacherous weapons, but if so, after all, they are onlydefending their country. The atrocities which thesetownspeople have committed, or are still committing, are avenged in a cruel manner. Muti
