Ears W' diameter with 12-16 rows, usually 14; deeper and narrower than those of Golden Cross Bantam and a little lighter in color. The yield is higher, in both gross weight and husked corn. IOCHIEF (y) 7 S 87 Developed at the Iowa Experiment Station by E. S. Haber and recently introduced. Plant sturdy, with few suckers and con- siderably resistant to lodging and to drought. Ears 14-18 rowed, with deep and narrow light golden kernels. Compared with Golden Cross Bantam, the ears are larger both in length and diameter, but hardly so well filled at the tips or of the same quality. IOANA (y) 6y2 8 87 An attractive hybrid, with excellent resistance to bacterial wilt. Plants tall and sturdy. Ears 12-14 rowed, cylindrical, diam- eter; well filled with medium-narrow, light yellow kernels. NARROW GRAIN (111.) 14 x 11 (w) sy2 7V4 90 Developed primarily to provide canners with a late white type of heavy yield and high quality in shape and texture of kernels. Stalks tall and strong; ears large, 2' diameter, and well filled with 18-22 rows of narrow, deep kernels. Has excellent resist- ance to bacterial wilt. Suitable for quick freezing.
