Dish Kubachi Iran 16th century ( Museo d'Arte Orientale )
Kubachi type plate ORIGIN Northern Iran DATING XVII century MEDIUM Polychrome decoration under showcase Inside the plate is painted the bust of a male character wearing a cloak with wide yellow lapels and decorated with turquoise geometric patterns on a green background. The head is wrapped in an elegant blue turban held by a red band. The delicate face is drawn with a thin black stroke and the figure is immersed in a colorful vegetation of flowers and multiform plants. The wide inclined edge is rhythmically decorated with a flora that seems to emerge from a lake soil: large yellow flowers alternate with lush tufts of red grass. The representation of the male character follows the iconographic conventions of contemporary Persian miniatures, while the plant decoration is influenced by Iznik pottery.
