Worlds longest tunnel slide on the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower being constructed at the Olympic Park in London.(Queen Elizabeth)

The worlds longest tunnel slide starting to take shape this weekend (April 16) as workmen carry on building the structure around the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower at the Olympic Park in London. Work is well underway on the world's LONGEST and TALLEST tunnel slide around the Orbit tower at The Olympic Park in London. Specialist abseilers have now lifted numerous parts of the 178-METRE long slide into place, ready for it to open to visitors early this summer. They have been working hard on the giant £ million slide over the last week and now it is really taking shape. The slide, which will wrap around the Orbit 12 times, has been billed as "London's most spectacular and thrilling new attraction" and will see visitors reach speeds of up to 15mph during the 40-second descent. The attraction, which has been created by Belgian artist Carsten Hoeller, is being constructed from transparent panels so users can view the London skyscape as they zoom down.
